Champagne is a stunning new colour variety in the Netherland Dwarf breed. Not to be confused with the Champagne D' Argent this is a French breed of rabbit Champagne is an accepted colour in the dwarfs across most parts of Europe and is still being worked on in the UK. Babies are born solid black, although often have a telling sign of a pink nose, and make a transformation into the beautiful old silver colour from around 6-8 weeks old. There is no real time scale for the full transformation however we have found the full change to be complete by around 5 months old.
There are 2 standards of Champagne colour, Full Champagne & Mid Champagne

Champagne Breeders Gene Information
Black Self SiSi Mid Sisi Full sisi
Black (SiSi) X Champange (sisi) = 100% Sisi these will all look like mid champagne
Mid (Sisi) X Mid (Sisi) = 25% Champagne (sisi), 50% Mid (Sisi), 25% Black (SiSi) this is not a recomended pairing as it could be hard to distinguish which rabbits carry the gene and which do not.
